Major/Program Requirements
Required Courses:
Students must complete at least six (6) units from the following courses:
HIST 170 or HIST 170H | World Civilizations (3500 BCE-1500 CE) | 3.00 |
HIST 171 or HIST 171H | World Civilizations (1500 CE to the Present) | 3.00 |
HUM 101 | The Humanities I: Prehistoric to Medieval | 3.00 |
HUM 102 | The Humanities II: Renaissance to Post Modern | 3.00 |
Students must complete at least six (6) additional units from the following courses:
Total Credit Hours: 18.00
Lower division requirements for students interested in transferring to a four-year institution in this field may differ from associate degree requirements. Prospective transfer students should complete the general education and lower division requirements of the school to which they will be transferring. See a counselor for details. A student receiving a degree in this field will be able to:
- Differentiate and outline the relationship between the major fields and subfields of philosophy
- Describe key terms within philosophy
- Discuss and contrast three major philosophical schools
- When given a transcript of a hypothetical debate on an ethical issue, identify, discuss, explain and analyze philosophical assumptions and inconsistencies
