GEOL 270 Geology of the Eastern Sierra Nevada

Discussion and observation of the physical and historical geology and natural history of the Pacific Coast province of the United States, with specific emphasis on the geology of Eastern Sierra Nevada. Lectures preparatory to the fieldtrip and geologic tools will be utilized to explore, understand, and observe the geology in the southern section of the Sierra Nevada (from Ridgecrest area to north of Big Pine, CA). Student must attend the field trip or complete an approved alternative assignment to successfully complete the course.
