Emergency Medical Technician - I Certificate
The objective of this certificate program is to document that the student has successfully completed an approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that meets the requirements of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22. Social Security, Division 9. Prehospital Emergency Medical Services, Chapter 2. Emergency Medical Technician and has passed all required tests required by the California certifying agency.
Prior to starting this program the student must show proof of a clear criminal background check.
Admission: Open to all students who meet the age and physical requirements. Registration is limited to class size restrictions.

A student receiving a certificate in this field will be able to:
- Evaluate, treat and transport the ill and injured.
- Effectively use adjunctive airway breathing aids.
- Administer and monitor medications.
- Demonstrate competency in assessing and treating patients with medical or trauma emergencies at a basic level.
- Participate in a culturally diverse environment.
