Student Grievance Procedure

If you feel you have been treated unfairly, you have a right to complain. To ensure that your grievance receives a reasonable hearing, refer to SBCCD Board Policy and Administrative Procedure 5530.

Grievance proceedings may be initiated against a District employee or another student for any of the following reasons:

• Any act of threat or intimidation; 
• Any act of threat of physical aggression;
• Any arbitrary action or imposition of sanctions without a proper regard to academic due process as specified in college procedures.

NOTICE:

• Grades are not grieveable, but can be appealed. (See SBCCD Administrative Procedure 4231).
• Sexual harassment complaints are filed in accordance with SBCCD Administrative Procedure 3435 and are not covered under Student Grievances.
• Discrimination complaints are filed in accordance with SBCCD Administrative Procedure 3435 and are not covered under Student Grievances.
