PBSF 170 Lifeguarding

Knowledge and skills required for deep water lifeguarding, meeting the certificate requirements of the American Red Cross.  This course is also offered as KIN 170.

Units: 3.00

UC, CSU, Associate Degree Applicable

Prerequisites: Must be age 15 or older. 300 meters of continuous swim: front crawl, breastroke or a combination of both without stopping to rest. Tread water for 2 minutes. Timed event: swim 20 meters out to retrieve a 10 pound weight within 1 minute and 40 seconds.

Lecture: Minimum 40 hours per semester
